Category: accessible Devices
Hi all,
My friend wants to know if there is an accessible, possibly free, program or demo which would allow him to completely or as close to it as possible remove vocals from a track. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.
There is, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. It's not without problems though. The way it works is to mess with the stereo phase of the music, much the same as if you wired a speaker to a stereo out of phase. Consequntly, if you're stripping vocals from an MP3, you get more of the compression artifacts, and it just sounds awful. Other than that, it can't remove the original vocalist's reverb, and it takes out whatever's in the center of the stereo field, so if that's not where the vocal is, it doesn't work. Having said that though, that's the only way to do what you're trying to do.
I think there's a WinAmp plugin. But I have no idea where to get it.I'll try and find out for you.
In adobe audition there is a vocal remove option but it works the same way as it is described in post2 so it doesn't work very well most of the time.
About the winamp plugin maybe it is at the winamp website at www.winamp.com under the plugins link. I will have to check at one point.
Ugg! The remove vocals in gold wave just soundsall messy. It doesn't remove much of it, but does anyone know of anything that removes the instruments from a track so all you've got is the vocals? Or maybe the other way around, what I'd really like to do is to have one track instruments and one vocals in a song that was recorded on a cd. Is this possible? if it is how do i do it?
It's not possible, the only way I can see that being able to happen is if one has the master tapes for a song, and that's unlikely, unless said person has connections to a record company, and that would be the deFX for winamp that does what post number two was talking about.
